This course is designed to introduce the fundamental principles of information technology security, teach responsible behavior in the workplace when using IT devices and services, and promote safe internet usage.

Fundamental e-security knowledge:

  • Extraction of information without the device user’s knowledge and its possible unlawful use.
  • Use of illegal software and files, and associated risks.
  • Antivirus and anti-spyware protection software.
  • Updating operating systems and installed software, and its importance.

Workplace security

  • Recommendations for creating, storing, and managing secure passwords.
  • Inappropriate and illegal online content, social networks, and fraudulent emails.
  • Responsibility for one’s actions on the internet.
  • Organizational security in the workplace. Workplace ethics.
  • Use of devices in the workplace.
  • Data removal from devices and data recovery. Creating and managing backups.

Safe internet browsing:

  • Methods of connecting to the internet. Secure use of wireless networks. Unsecured wireless networks.
  • Consequences of unsafe browsing.
